Lost in the Fix

Lost in the Fix Poem – A reflection on love and loss.

“‘Lost in the Fix Poem’ is a heartfelt piece about losing oneself  while trying to heal another.”

In order to make you happy,
I tried to heal your broken heart.
I tried to make it all work,
And in the process, lost myself just to please you in every part.

I tried to get ahead,
But my efforts were all in vain.
As I look back and reflect,
What makes me happy—
You stopped every move I made.

To make me happy
Meant doing things you don’t like to do.
Now I’m no longer confused,
But I’m no longer who I was.

I look in the mirror,
Lost,
Trying to find my way back home,
But home is no longer there.
This house is all that’s left.
I suppose this is how it ends,
When you lose yourself to fix someone else’s broken heart.

Losing yourself in the pursuit of someone else’s happiness is a slow kind of disappearance. We give, we compromise, we bend until we break. But at what cost? If you’ve ever felt lost in the process of fixing someone else, remember—you deserve to be whole too. Don’t forget to find your way back.
