I looked at my life
Through the eyes of others
To see a married man
A loved father of three
A healthy income with a nice house
And a couple of cars maybe three
My scars not visible
My hurt no longer there
How I long for the eyes of others
Just to get a glimpse of myself
I listen to my laughter through the ears of others
The voices no longer there
Yet in the silence, a storm, a truth unfolds
In shadows and whispers, my true essence is shown
The face in the mirror, blurry and all
But the depth of my heart, the seeds I’ve sown
For through their view I momentarily see
Joy, peace, a picture perfect life of me
Through my own eyes I find the key
To understanding who I truly be
